Today is the day of the autumnal equinox! I am so looking forward to some fall-like weather. We are still topping out over 90 degrees around here, though it looks like cooler weather is just a few days away.
I’m excited for fall, but for some reason I’m feeling a bit nostalgic about the end of summer. This was a huge spring and summer for me. I did a lot of self discovery and worked through old emotions and beliefs that no longer serve me. I feel as though I’m saying goodbye to the old me, which is a good thing, but kind of sad as well.
During my morning meditation, I asked my guide for a message or theme for the up coming months. I heard the word “balance”, which seems so fitting to hear on the equinox. A balance of day and night. Cooler weather to balance out the heat of the summer. Fall is the time to sit back and relax after the busy summer. It’s a time of internal self reflection. A time to look back on your personal growth over the past year.
We usually associate clearing out the old to make room for the new with springtime, but fall is a great time to do it too. So, if you’ve been crazy busy over the past several months, make sure you take time out for yourself. Spend some time with your family or friends. Curl up by the firepit. Go to an orchard and pick some apples. If the heat has kept you inside all summer, make sure you get outside and connect with nature. Open the windows and let the fall breeze blow in. Eat and drink pumpkin spice everything, if that’s your thing. It certainly is at my house!
Balance is the key this fall, so go and enjoy!
